Designer: Nora Kogan, Brooklyn.
Nora began her life in a little house by the Black Sea. When she was ten, her family moved from Odessa to Italy; her mother hid all of her jewelry in a transistor radio and entrusted it to Nora for the journey.
From Italy, the family moved to Melbourne, Australia and settled in a seedy seaside neighborhood called St. Kilda. Then, St. Kilda was populated with artists, local aborigines, junkies, holocaust survivors, intellectuals and émigrés.
After high school, Nora spent ten years traveling through Europe, Japan and finally Israel, where she realized her desire to design jewelry and returned to Australia to begin her studies.
Nora now lives in Brooklyn, New York, and designs jewelry under the name of St. Kilda. All jewelry is locally made from start to finish, and they strive to maintain close relationships with everyone involved in producing the St. Kilda line. St. Kilda uses only recycled metals and conflict-free stones.
